Songwriters Guild - Last Meeting for 2010

Happy Fall Songwriters,
Our last BSG gathering for 2010 is Thursday, November 18, at Asaphs, 6-9pm. To celebrate our year, we are going to do a "potluck" dinner.
If you can attend, please bring a food item and drink as follows:
* Last name begins with letter A - H - bring a sweet
* Last name begins with letter M - Z - bring a meat or savory
* Everyone bring their favorite soft drink to share (2 ltr or a pack)
If you must, you're welcome to bring one of each (sweet & savory).
We will eat and fellowship from 6-7 or so. We will spend some time sharing favorite song stories from the past year and discussing next year. We will spend our last hour or so sharing new songs.
I look forward to seeing all of you.
Hope and joy,
Casey

October and November Meetings

Happy Fall Everyone,
Just a couple reminders about BSG...

OCTOBER MEETING
Our October meeting is the BSG Fall Showcase this coming Thursday night (the 21st) at Koinonia, 6:30-9:00. We have a great lineup. If you are not performing, please come and support your BSG family. We will have Fall drinks and goodies served by Timothy Durham who is fundraising for his YWAM trip to China. It will be a great evening of creative expression and diversity.

NOVEMBER MEETING
Our November meeting will be the last of this year, after which we will take a break for a couple months. It will be on Thursday night, November 18th, 6:00-9:00 at Asaph's. Since this is our last meeting and around the holidays, we're going to do a potluck meal. I will email everyone with more details later. I will also be asking for your thoughts about continuing BSG next year. After a thorough time of eating and fellowship, we will share songs.
Peace to all,
Casey

BSG Showcase

Songwriters...
Do you want to participate in our BSG Fall Showcase?
I have 12 sign-ups and room for 8-10 more. It will be Thursday night, October 21 at Koinonia. Probably 6:30 - 9:00. We will invite the public (Belmont and BSG friends and family). Each participant will do one song (simple accompaniment) and will have 1-2 minutes to tell the story behind their song. Let me know soon if you want to participate.
All BSG'ers - feel free to invite your friends and family to the Showcase. This is an opportunity for our local circle to feel the life of our BSG family and experience the diverse musical expressions being birthed in their creative community.
We will not have a regular Oct BSG meeting...the Showcase is our Oct meeting.
November 18 will be our last BSG meeting this year. We will do a potluck and share stories and songs.
If any of you can assist in preparations for the showcase, please let me know. We need:
* a good keyboard that everyone can use
* a soundman
Peace to all,
Casey

September Meeting Plus October Showcase

Our next BSG meeting is September 16 (this coming Thursday). 6-9 @ Asaph's Chamber. Bring your dinner if you want. Bring your instrument, we're gonna try a musical jam and some spontaneous songwriting.
Also, we're going to do a Fall Showcase / Open House during our Oct meeting (10/21). It will be in Koinonia. Let me know if you would like to perform a song that night.
Peace,
Casey

Meeting July 22, 2010

The next Belmont Songwriters Guild meeting will be:
Thursday night - July 22
6-9 at Asaph's.
I know this week is the 3rd Thursday of July, but we're meeting next week. Our usual program - bring your dinner and a song to share.
Hope & joy,
Casey

Thursday June 17, 6-9 PM in Asaph’s Chamber

Next meeting Thursday June 17, 6-9 PM in Asaph’s Chamber. Bring your own dinner and a song to share. (Belmont Songwriters Guild meets the 3rd Thursday of the month.)

Message from Casey - Dream and Do

Songwriters,

I wanted to share some thoughts with all of you based on something we did in our last BSG meeting. In our last meeting we broke up into two smaller groups and each person shared their thoughts on two questions:
1. What is a dream/goal for your music?
2. What is an action step that you could take tomorrow that would move you toward your dream/goal?
Based on my own experience, here are four challenges that I believe everyone has to face in order to move toward fulfillment of a dream.

BSG Meeting Plus...

Happy Spring to BSG Songwriters!

Next BSG Meeting
April 15, Thursday night, 6:00pm to 9:00pm, at Asaph's Chamber. Bring your own dinner if you want. We'll fellowship for 30 minutes, probably do another small group breakout for 30 minutes, then share songs. As always, our meetings are rich. If you haven't made it back this year, we hope to see you again.

Song Feedback Session
We are trying to schedule a 3-4 hour session to listen to songs with the intent of giving constructive criticism on each song. It can be very enlightening to hear songs receive this kind of evaluation. I may have some industry song managers join us. This will likely take place on either a Sat or Thur night (not a BSG monthly meeting). You will need to sign-up to have your song evaluated. I would like to determine the interest level so please email me if you would like to have a song reviewed in a Feedback Session.

BSG Spring Showcase
We are also thinking about a Spring BSG Showcase. Details to be determined. You will need to sign-up to be part of this. Please email me if you would like to participate in this.
Until I see you next...enjoy your writing.
Casey

BSG Meeting and Bluebird Show

Our next BSG meeting is Thursday, March 18, 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Asaph's Chamber on the Belmont Church campus. As usual, you can bring your bag dinner if you like. We will fellowship, talk about some specific plans for future meetings, and share songs.

I don’t really know the other writers, but they are not novices. If you’re looking for something musical and fun to do, come join us.

It has been an exhausting month for me with little space to enjoy music...so I am looking forward to some refreshment and inspiration with you next week.

Concert with BSG writers!

In case you didn't get the Facebook invite...this will be pretty cool - Casey

Type: Music/Arts - Concert
Date: Sunday, February 14, 2010
Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: Belmont Church-Koinonia Building

Jesus Loves You. A night of music on Valentine's Day. We figured this would be a good day to remind you.

The line up is as follows.
Adam Hill will be playing tunes from his upcoming album Smoke Trees, an eclectic mix of bluegrass, rock n roll and southern blue eyed soul.

The Lovespies play beautiful, quirky, folk songs about spaceships and time travel. It's all a metaphor for longing. Julie's voice is like Alabama twang mixed with Bjork and her guitar slinging hubby Rob is a classical gas.

Drinkwine is some stone cold Jesus Rock. Jeremy Drinkwine's singing to stadiums voice packs a punch with great songs and drop dead melodies.

Admission is free. A donation will be taken for the Romanian School for Worship and Arts.
